1. Malik Hall is an OKG

With Gabe Brown going to the bench early and the Spartans struggling, they needed someone to step up. Malik Hall was that guy. Hall is an “OKG” what Izzo likes to refer to players as “our kind of guys”. He plays within the system and makes the right plays at the right time.

Hall plays smart basketball and lets his play do all the talking. He was 9-for-9 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the line in this outing and exactly what Izzo needed from his other captain. Hall did not commit a turnover and only had one foul to go along with a career-high 24 points and seven rebounds.

The junior captain is turning into a Michigan State star. The next question is can he continue to play strong and be a consistent go-to scorer? He has two starts on the season which are his best two performances. He uses his body and is strong around the rim. He can guard most positions and can do it all. Now we need consistency from this “our kind of guy” player.

The Spartans’ next game will be on Thanksgiving at noon. They will face UConn which just beat Auburn in double-overtime, 115-109.
