Michigan State Football: 3 bold predictions for top-10 showdown at Ohio State
1. Michigan State covers the spread
According to WynnBET, Michigan State is a 19.5-point underdog against Ohio State. Believe it or not, Mel Tucker has won as an even larger underdog since taking over at Michigan State, taking down Michigan a year ago as a 27-point dog. He’s shown that he can defy the odds and beat heavy favorites, so why should this be any different?
For one, this game is on the road. But you have to realize Michigan State is a much better team this year than it was last season. The Spartans are ranked in the top 10 and are still nearly three-touchdown underdogs against a team ranked just three spots ahead of them.
Another reason is the fact that this Ohio State team can put up some points behind Heisman-caliber quarterback CJ Stroud while the Spartans have the worst passing defense in the land.
But something tells me that Tucker is going to have his guys ready and he’s going to pull out all the stops. As long as the Spartans can keep pace until the fourth quarter, they’ll have a serious chance to win. I think they do just that and give the Buckeyes all they can handle in Columbus.
Will the Spartans win? I’m not predicting that, but I do think this will be closer than people thing as they cover the 19.5-point spread.
