1. Michigan State wins a big one for the Big Ten

The Big Ten has had a rough go of things in the Gavitt Games so far this season and the top of the conference took a massive hit on Monday with Illinois’ loss to Marquette and then Tuesday night with a Michigan loss at home to Seton Hall. Just not a great look for the Big Ten.

This is another one of those elite matchups for the conference. Although the Spartans are on the road and we’ve seen that those types of games can spell trouble this year, Michigan State is going to shake off the hostile environment, win the turnover battle, and get a huge game from Max Christie en route to a nice win.

Heading into Wednesday’s game, the Spartans are slight favorites, but there are some fans who don’t feel good about this one because Hinkle Fieldhouse is a tough place to play.

Michigan State is going to shake off the nerves early on, racing out to a healthy lead thanks to some stout defense and holding on to improve to 2-1 on the year.

This will be a nice win for the Big Ten in the Gavitt Games although it won’t quite make up for losses by Michigan and Illinois.
