Another starting lock, Gabe Brown is going to assume the role of team leader as well as possible go-to scorer. He and Max Christie are going to lead the team in scoring this season and there’s a feeling that this could finally be Brown’s breakout campaign.

Heading into his senior year, he hasn’t had to shoulder a scoring load before, but in two exhibition games, he’s shown more willingness to drive to the hoop and hasn’t been afraid to shoot.

In years past, Gabe has been a little too hesitant to put the ball up, especially if the shots aren’t falling, but it looks like he has a quick trigger this season. He’s going to need to be that spark for the offense when it needs one all year and he’s got that valuable experience.

Brown averaged 7.2 points and 2.7 rebounds on 47 percent shooting from the floor and 42 percent from deep last season, but I could see all of those numbers improving drastically.

In fact, I think Brown could average somewhere near 15 points per game and over five rebounds with a similar shooting percentage from his junior year.

Tom Izzo even compared his potential senior leap to Morris Peterson’s back in 1999-2000.
