Michigan State Football: 3 bold predictions for tricky battle at Purdue
Michigan State football’s season can be summed up by the Paul Rudd gif where he says “Hey, look at us. Who would’ve thought we’d be here? Not me.”
Before the year, just about every fan would tell you that a bowl game would meet expectations and 7-8 wins would surpass them. Well, through eight games, the Spartans are undefeated and Mel Tucker just beat Michigan for a second straight year, becoming the first Michigan State coach ever to beat the Wolverines in his first two tries.
And Michigan State went from “one of the 10 worst Power Five teams” according to USA Today to 8-0 and ranked No. 3 in the College Football Playoff poll.
The Spartans are riding high after an emotional win over Michigan, but they can’t afford a letdown against a pesky Purdue team in Week 10.
Let’s get bold ahead of another big game for the Spartans.
3. Jayden Reed has receiving and return touchdowns
With Jalen Nailor out possibly until the bowl game, Jayden Reed is going to have to step up. I think he’ll do just that, starting with a solid game at Purdue.
Payton Thorne is going to get back to the basics and rely on his solid connection with Reed and the two will have big games.
Reed, however, will have an impact on more than just the offensive side of the ball. The talented receiver and return man will take back either a punt or a kick return for a touchdown and really ignite some momentum for the Spartans.
Outside of that return touchdown, I see Reed catching a touchdown pass from Thorne and break 100 receiving yards on the day. He’s going to have an All-Big Ten type of day for Michigan State and the Spartans will need it.
