4. Jayden Reed averages over 100 yards per game

It’s been a month since Jayden Reed reached 100 yards in a game but he’s come close over the past two games with 10 catches for 150 yards combined against Michigan and Indiana.

Currently, he sits at 642 yards and five touchdowns on 33 catches this season and he’s fairly close to becoming the Spartans’ first 1,000-yard receiver since Aaron Burbridge in 2015. What else happened in 2015? Michigan State made the College Football Playoff.

Reed is going to catch fire in the final month and really get back on track after a fairly sleepy October which followed up a red-hot September. I think Reed is going to step up with Jalen Nailor potentially out for a few games and he’ll average over 100 yards per game and catch 20-plus passes on his way to a 1,000-yard season.

Michigan State and Payton Thorne will need him to step up with Nailor out and he’s going to have to do more of what he did against Michigan in the second half where he was the main, and essentially only, target.

A 1,000-yard rusher and 1,000-yard receiver at Michigan State in the same year? Hasn’t happened since 2014.
