Michigan State football is entering the month of November with Big Ten title and College Football Playoff aspirations. Who would have thought those words would be said in non-joking fashion in year two of the Mel Tucker era?

Definitely not me.

The Spartans went 2-5 last year and a USA Today opinion piece had Michigan State as one of the “10 worst Power Five teams” prior to the season. Talk about a freezing-cold take.

There are big goals ahead for the month of November with Penn State and Ohio State still on the schedule.

Let’s get bold ahead of a big month of November.

5. We will see more Keon Coleman

With Jalen Nailor hurting his hand against Michigan in the first half and coming out of the locker room with an apparent hard cast on, everyone knew that the Spartans would need to dip into their depth at receiver to make up for the loss.

We saw some Montorie Foster and I’m sure we’ll see more Terry Lockett, Christian Fitzpatrick, and maybe even Ian Stewart with Nailor potentially out for a bit.

But I think the coaching staff realizes the talent that it has in freshman wideout Keon Coleman and I could see them trusting in him in the final four games to help preserve that perfect record.

Burning that redshirt is probably something the staff doesn’t want to do at this point, but I don’t think the staff can be safe and conservative with Nailor out and a Big Ten title on the line.

Maybe we’ll even see a breakout performance from Coleman in November.
