Kiyaunta Goodwin is one of the best and most sought-after prospects in the 2022 recruiting class and Michigan State football is pushing to flip him.

The five-star offensive tackle committed to Kentucky in the spring, but there was a feeling that his recruitment may not quite be over because the Spartans were high on him, and vice versa. Maybe he was waiting to see how Michigan State would fare during the 2021 season.

Goodwin is the highest-profile recruit that Mel Tucker has been after and if the second-year head coach is able to land him, he’ll add a huge accomplishment to his recruiting resume.

Tucker is pushing to flip him from Kentucky and he’s no stranger to flips as he was able to get four-star quarterback Katin Houser to change his pledge from Boise State to Michigan State earlier this summer. He also flipped Ma’a Gaoteote last recruiting class as the four-star linebacker was committed to USC before signing day.

Tucker is also trying to flip four-star wideout Armani Winfield from Texas.

With Goodwin locking in an official visit for later in the month (likely the Michigan game), it looks like the Spartans have a legit shot at landing him.

Can Michigan State football flip Goodwin?

It’s going to require a home-run official visit which may have to include a Spartans win over Michigan in an electric atmosphere to beat out Kentucky and Alabama (he’s visiting the Tide this weekend).

I do believe that Tucker has the ability to flip Goodwin and he now has the results through seven games of the 2021 season to back up his pitch. He has been selling a future national title contender to recruits and now that his team is 7-0 and ranked No. 9 in the country in just year two, he has the perfect pitch.

Can Tucker flip Goodwin? Absolutely, but he’ll also have to assure the five-star tackle that he’s not going to leave for LSU.
