2. Second-half offense was more disappointing than the defense

Everyone is going to look at the total yards given up by Michigan State and assume that was the most disappointing area in the 17-point win, but that’s not the case.

The most disappointing aspect of Michigan State’s win over Western Kentucky had to be the second-half offense. Despite the fact that Michigan State gave up over 500 yards, the second-half offense was only able to muster just six points and had multiple chances to score touchdowns but settled.

This isn’t necessarily on any particular players on offense, but rather the conservative play-calling that felt more like the Mark Dantonio days of the “run the clock with the lead” mentality. That type of conservative offense will lead to some losses against better teams despite having the lead. If you’re like me, you want to see more gas pedal offense. Step on their throats.

Michigan State moved the ball at will on Saturday night but only scoring six points after a 42-point first half was majorly disappointing.
