Michigan State Football: Report card from overtime win over Nebraska
Defensive Line: A-
This was the best game by the defensive line all year and if it wasn’t for some missed tackles on Adrian Martinez which went from a possible sack into a big gainer on multiple occasions, this group would have finished with an A or A+.
The line finished the game with seven sacks, completely taking advantage of one of the worst offensive lines the Spartans will see all year.
Along with the seven sacks, the Spartans had 11 tackles for loss which really put the Cornhuskers behind schedule on multiple occasions. Getting Nebraska behind the line was a regular occurrence and you have to believe that this group was just waiting for a breakout game.
Jacub Panasiuk had arguably the best game of his career with seven tackles and two sacks and he had to pick up the slack when Drew Beesley (three tackles and 0.5 sacks) went down with an injury and was carted off. Jacob Slade was also solid with eight tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack.
Simeon Barrow had a breakout performance as well with seven tackles and 0.5 sacks, Jeff Pietrowski had four tackles and 1.5 sacks, Maverick Hansen had three tackles and a tackle for loss, Drew Jordan had a couple of tackles, and Jalen Hunt and Michael Fletcher each had a takedown.
