I don’t mean to read like former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz, however, there are some athletes on Youngstown State that Michigan State football needs to worry about.

It all starts with quarterback Demeatric Crenshaw. He does not pass the pigskin that much only 11 times last week. He can run the RPO to perfection with 20 carries for 81 yards.

The next player MSU must contain is Jaleel McLaughlin the senior had over 240 yards last week on 29 attempts with two touchdowns — rivaling what Kenneth Walker III did to Northwestern.

On offense, the Penguins can hurt the Spartans if MSU does not remain disciplined. Michigan State has two new linebackers and they must read the RPO offense correctly, otherwise, the Penguins will have some big plays. What concerned me about last week against Northwestern is that MSU could not get to the quarterback without a blitz, that must change going forward.

I believe Walker III will have another big game because the Penguin offense could not stop Incarnate Word and had to take the game into overtime to win. The Penguins will do their best to stay in this game, which is why MSU must put them away early.

I think Mel Tucker will have them ready for Youngstown State.

My final verdict is: Youngstown State 17, Michigan State 35

Michigan State wants to use this game to get other non-starters playing time. The Spartans should coast to a victory, but the Penguins will fight them every step of the way.
