From one in-state defensive back prospect to another, there’s plenty of hype and excitement surrounding Jaden Mangham, and deservedly so. He’s one of the most talented athletes in the class and could potentially be the best defensive back committed to Michigan State’s 2022 class, if he does make it official.

Mangham was a recruit I wanted from the get-go, but I never truly gave Michigan State a chance because of his brother’s situation at Colorado. Jaren Mangham played one season with the Buffaloes before watching his head coach depart and I expected that to rub his whole family the wrong way — but the older Mangham brother is now at USF.

Apparently, Jaren’s time under Tucker hasn’t deterred Jaden because he took a visit to East Lansing over the weekend for Spartan Dawg Con and came away impressed.

And apparently with a changed mind.

Before the weekend, the four-star defensive back was considered a heavy West Virginia lean with a commitment date set for Aug. 1, but he has since postponed and Michigan State is the new favorite.

This would be a monster addition for Tucker and Co. as Mangham is ranked No. 285 nationally.
