Mel Tucker’s second recruiting class as Michigan State football coach is coming together nicely and it’s currently ranked No. 24 in the country and sixth in the Big Ten.

And the Spartans aren’t quite done yet.

Michigan State is in on a number of top targets and four-star recruits in the 2021 class but there are only a handful of spots left. In fact, the Spartans have 17 commits in the class with probably 4-5 spots open and the staff has to be pretty selective from this point on.

With the recent news of Ryan Baer essentially eliminating the Spartans from his finalists, I threw together a list of the best possible finish to Michigan State’s 2022 class and it’s not too shabby.

What would be the ideal finish to Michigan State’s 2022 class?

This one may be more of a personal want for me as Jeremiah Caldwell could help Mel Tucker get back in the good graces of Belleville’s coaches and recruits.

We saw this offseason as Devontae Dobbs, Julian Barnett, and Davion Williams all transferred out of the program. The Belleville pipeline seemed to dry up a bit and that was more evident when three-star defensive back Jeremiah Caldwell committed to Kentucky.

Well, things seem to have taken a turn in the Caldwell recruitment. While he was supposed to be in East Lansing for the ‘Spartan Dawg Con’ over the weekend, Caldwell didn’t actually make it but still decommitted from Kentucky. This may have opened the door for Tucker and Co. or maybe they even got in his ear and told him they want to see his senior film before they can take him.

Either way, I like Caldwell’s game and it’s hard to overlook a top-400 cornerback from your own backyard who stands 6-foot-2 and holds SEC offers.
