If you’re a Michigan State football fan, chances are you’re hesitant to get too excited about a commitment from a top recruit because of what has happened with flipping in the past.

Every program has had top recruits flip to other schools on or before National Signing Day, but Mel Tucker’s first class had two four-stars go from Michigan State commits to Notre Dame and Michigan when it was time to sign the Letter of Intent.

Fans are hoping Katin Houser doesn’t follow their footsteps.

Luckily, his dad has given fans a reason to rest easy.

Houser’s dad appeared on The Spartan Beat with Corey Robinson and Justin Thind of 247Sports on Thursday and they talked about his recruitment. He stated that Katin doesn’t want to take any other visits and his recruitment is completely locked up.

"“We’re locked in, we’re not going to any more schools. Katin was not big on doing all that stuff, he’s just not that kid. So I can promise you we’re not going anywhere else. This is it. We’re done. He’s done, he’s happy. All he’s focusing on is Bosco football, that’s all he cares about right now.”"

That’s huge, especially for the doubters who can never seem to get excited about any commitment because they have PTSD from losing guys like Drake Harris back in the Mark Dantonio days or Rayshaun Benny and Audric Estime this past year.

Houser’s stock is on the rise and he’s likely to be a four-star on every recruiting service before his high school career is over and the fact that he fell in love with Michigan State and is locking it up and preparing for his senior season is big. This just goes to show how well Tucker and Jay Johnson did with this recruitment.

Michigan State was lucky enough to convince him to visit when he was committed to Boise State because he had cancelled every other official.

Having the quarterback of the class locked in is only going to help recruiting.

Houser will help the Michigan State football staff recruit

The four-star quarterback even admitted at the Elite 11 finals that he’s trying to recruit some other players to join him in Michigan State’s 2022 class such as Kaytron Allen (looks like a lost cause at this point) and Armani Winfield (also likely to remain at Texas) but there will be more targets he can get in the ear of and convince them to go green.

Michigan State could add another receiver and with Kevin Thomas likely headed to West Virginia and Winfield staying at Texas, maybe the staff will want him to check in with Antonio Gates Jr.

Ryan Baer is another name he could be checking in with along with Alex VanSumeren but the staff is hoping to build the class around Houser and having him shut down his recruitment completely is great news.

Rest easy, Spartan fans, Houser is staying green.
