Michigan State football: 3 breakout candidates on offense for 2021
We haven’t truly seen what Tre Mosley is fully capable of and I think the redshirt sophomore receiver gets lost in the shuffle quite a bit because of guys like Jalen Nailor and Jayden Reed getting more attention. Even Ricky White earned more recognition last year as a freshman and that’s likely because Mosley suffered an injury that forced him to miss time.
After a solid freshman season in which he caught 21 passes for 216 yards and a touchdown, showing plenty of promise, he took a step back in 2020 with only seven receptions for 71 yards.
The only way to go is up from here for Mosley and he has the talent to make some waves in this offense.
The 6-2, 200-pound receiver from West Bloomfield (Mich.) High School was expected to do big things in East Lansing but he hasn’t quite lived up to the hype just yet. I expect that to change in 2021 if he can stay fully healthy and crack that starting rotation. A trio of Reed, Nailor, and Mosley would be truly difficult to stop.
Plus, the Spartans have a ton of talent at receiver so he would never be focused when he’s on the field. That will allow him to win his 1-on-1s and truly dominate.
I expect a big season from Mosley.
