Michigan State football secures surprise commitment from 3-star DB Ade Willie
Ade Willie had taken two official visits before checking out East Lansing and Michigan State football on June 25, but it was clear who his leader was — at least to him.
Willie took trips to Colorado and Arizona before heading to the Midwest to see what Mel Tucker had building in East Lansing. What he saw impressed him enough to really change his recruitment and he felt close to a decision.
The thing is, no one really knew much about his commitment timeline and Michigan State fans probably hadn’t heard his name mentioned much, but the IMG Academy three-star decided to make his announcement with a cool video on Monday afternoon.
Willie surprised a lot of people and picked the Spartans over Colorado, Arizona, Boston College, Kansas State, Virginia, and West Virginia.
While this isn’t the IMG Academy commit that Michigan State fans have been pushing for (Kaytron Allen), any time you can land a commitment from the prestigious school, it’s a good thing.
The three-star defensive back is listed as the No. 92 cornerback in the 2022 class and has yet to be rated in the composite. A big senior year or camp season could move him up in the rankings.
Michigan State football could have a big month of July
The Spartans are already trending with a number of top targets and this is just a pleasant surprise to really get the ball rolling.
With spots filling up in the 2022 class, Michigan State can be pretty selective from here on out and some of the biggest names are still on the big board.
Don’t be surprised if Michigan State surpasses their June commitment total of seven in the month of July.
