Another wishful thinking pick here, but there’s some smoke right now regarding Alex VanSumeren to Michigan State, and where’s there’s smoke, there’s usually fire.

The thought here is that VanSumeren wants to announce his decision before his senior season and that usually means before fall practice begins in August just to ease the stress going into the final year of high school ball. If that’s the case, July would be the move and Michigan State might just be the choice here.

Michigan State became the favorite in recent weeks after his official visit and he has also taken trips to Northwestern, Penn State, and Texas A&M and Clemson is also high on his list.

The draw of playing with his brother has to be big as well as Ben VanSumeren transferred from Michigan to Michigan State this offseason and that’s when Alex decided to decommit from the Wolverines and Mel Tucker moved right in.

This would be a massive recruiting win for Tucker as VanSumeren is ranked the No. 179 overall player and 27th-best defensive lineman in the 2022 recruiting class. He would become the Spartans’ top-ranked commit in the cycle.
