Michigan State football becomes leader for 3-star OT Ryan Baer
If there’s one position Mel Tucker has made a priority over the course of his first two recruiting classes, it would have to be the offensive line.
Michigan State football hasn’t had a competent offensive line in years and that was due to poor recruiting at the position in the latter stages of the Mark Dantonio era and Mark Staten struggled to develop the guys he had. But under Tucker and Chris Kapilovic, things are changing.
In the offseason, Tucker and Co. landed All-Sun Belt tackle Jarrett Horst from Arkansas State to an increasingly impressive group.
Now in the 2022 class, the Spartans are focusing on that offensive line with guys like Gavin Broscious, Braden Miller, Kristian Phillips, Ashton Lepo, and now there’s another top lineman target trending toward the Spartans. Three-star Ryan Baer from Eastlake, Ohio, picked up a few crystal ball predictions to Michigan State this week after a recent visit.
Kentucky received 100 percent of the crystal balls before this week and it seems as if his official visit to East Lansing was a game-changer.
Baer is the No. 367 overall recruit in the class and the 37th-best offensive tackle. He’s four spots away from four-star status and it wouldn’t surprise me if he rose to that level before signing day.
Michigan State football’s recruiting trending up
Michigan State just flipped four-star quarterback Katin Houser from Boise State and he’s dominating at the Elite 11 finals, the Spartans are trending with four-star defensive lineman Alex VanSumeren, and now they’re looking good with this borderline four-star lineman.
The 2022 class looks to be trending in the right direction and adding Baer would only keep the ball rolling after seven commitments in the month of June.
We’re seeing the benefits of Tucker getting recruits on campus for official and unofficial visits as the end of the dead period boosted recruiting tremendously.
