It’s been a busy couple of weeks to start the month of June for Mel Tucker and Michigan State football. Following the conclusion of the dead period, the staff has hosted dozens of top targets in the 2022 class for official visits and they’ve gotten some big commitments.

Guys like Quavian Carter, Braden Miller, Jack Stone, Michael Masunas, and Jaron Glover have all committed over the past couple of weeks but the staff is far from done.

Michigan State is still hosting top prospects every weekend and the staff has some guys who could be green sooner rather than later.

Which four prospects in the 2022 class could be the next to commit to Michigan State this summer?

I might be a little more optimistic here than most, but I think Antonio Gates Jr. could be a Spartan sooner rather than later because most kids don’t like going into their senior seasons without being committed and he has looked like a Michigan State lean for a while.

Could he be trying to fight the notion that he’s a Spartan lean? Possibly. Some recruits don’t like to think they’re a “lock” for a specific school so they prolong their recruitment.

Gates Jr. does have plenty of interest and some top programs are hoping he’s theirs by the time National Signing Day rolls around, but Mel Tucker and Co. have done a great job recruiting him and Courtney Hawkins could add another solid prospect to the receiver room.

The son of NFL legend Antonio Gates is ranked the No. 287 overall prospect and 44th-best wide receiver in the 2022 class.
