Michigan State basketball welcomes in two more top 2022 class recruits

Michigan State basketball is bringing in a pair of talented targets this week for official visits with stretch four Isaac Traudt and sharpshooter Jaden Schutt set to make their way to East Lansing in the final moments of spring.

Traudt is scheduled to arrive on June 17 while Schutt will be here the following day to explore campus.

Traudt is a gifted 6-foot-9 power forward out of Grand Island, Neb. He is a highly sought-after prep standout with an impressive list of 30 offers to his name.

He is a versatile big man with tremendous length and terrific athletic ability. He is bursting with two-way potential and is a top priority for the Spartans. He can score with either hand and has excellent range on his jump shot. His shot selection is phenomenal and he plays under control with nice pace. He has a lot of tools in his bag.

Schutt is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Yorkville, Ill., who has been on the radar of Michigan State for quite some time.

The Illinois native’s bread and butter is his three-point shot yet he’s anything but a one-trick pony. From his sophomore to junior high school seasons, he became stronger and increased his explosiveness as the result of a tremendous 2020 summer spent locked in the gym. Schutt’s game film shows a player whose confidence is rapidly growing. He can drive the basketball and finish at the rim. That added element makes him even more coveted.

His game is developing just as quickly as his recruitment is. The Spartans are one of nine Big Ten programs that have extended an offer out to the promising two-guard. He has played with current MSU freshman Max Christie. Schutt’s AAU ties to Christie could tip the scales in the favor of the Spartans if this recruitment goes down to the wire.

Schutt is a scoring machine (he once sank 17 threes in a single game). He can spread the floor with his accuracy from beyond the arc. The midrange shot is becoming a lost art but Schutt demonstrates the ability to drill those with ease, too.

After welcoming Tarris Reed Jr. and Trejuan Holloman onto campus earlier this month, Tom Izzo and his staff are still waiting for the first domino to fall in the 2022 class. All four prospects are fantastic and there is a good chance at least a couple of them will commit to Michigan State at some point in the months to come.
