It’s a busy time of the year for Tom Izzo as Michigan State basketball has started offseason practices and conditioning while he’s also trying to sew up his 2022 and 2023 recruiting classes.

Izzo is working as hard off the court as he is on it, securing visits from some of the top recruits in the country. Last weekend, he hosted four-star big man Tarris Reed who is a top target in the 2022 class, and recently he had 2023 combo guard Braelon Green on campus and he figures to be one of the best recruits in his class.

Looking ahead to that 2023 class, it’ll be interesting to see how many scholarships he has available and he’s already laying out a rough plan of who to go after.

Curtis Williams Jr. could be one of those Plan A targets by the time it’s all said and done.

And he’ll be on campus in two weeks.

I wrote a while back that Williams was showing interest in MSU and said he wanted to take a visit to East Lansing when the dead period was finally over.

Well, he’s wasting no time.

Williams waiting for that Michigan State basketball offer

Despite being one of the top recruits in the 2023 class, Williams still doesn’t have an offer from Michigan State, according to 247Sports.

But a lot of times, recruits earn those offers during unofficial visits when they finally get to sit down and meet with Izzo. This trip could be when his official offer from Michigan State comes and that could end up being a huge one in his recruitment as he’s from nearby Birmingham (Mich.) Brother Rice.

Williams is ranked the No. 33 recruit in the 2023 class and eighth-best small forward by 247Sports. He’ll be one of Izzo’s top targets along with Cameron Christie and Green.
