Most likely scenario for Michigan State football

Alright, we all had to suffer through that worst-case scenario slide together, so let’s get back to a little more optimism and speak on the most likely scenario for Michigan State football this fall.

The Spartans have enough talent to make a bowl game this season and anything less than six wins would have to be considered a major disappointment. Mel Tucker still has a ton of rebuilding to do, but he essentially swapped out MAC talent for Power Five talent, in most cases.

When you look at the best and worst-case scenarios for a given season, the most likely is somewhere in between and that’s obviously going to be the case here.

I don’t think Michigan State is going to win 8-9 games but I also don’t see the Spartans only securing 4-5 victories so I’m going somewhere in the 6-7 range.

The Spartans will beat Northwestern to open the season with a nice surprise and they will have 4-5 wins before the bye week. Beating Michigan isn’t a crazy thought because they did so last year in Ann Arbor with a much less talented squad. But let’s say they lose this one and then beat Maryland and Purdue as they should. That gives them 6-7 wins.

I’ll go with a 7-5 record as the most likely scenario for Michigan State in 2021 with a 5-4 mark in Big Ten play.
