Michigan State football: 5 possible post-spring targets in 2021 transfer portal
According to a report from Rivals‘ Mike Farrell, Michigan State was one of the first teams to reach out to Jordan Johnson when he hit the transfer portal this week.
Following Notre Dame’s spring game, Johnson decided to leave the program in search of more playing time and a better opportunity elsewhere. He could get that at Michigan State although the Spartans have one of the better receiving corps in the Big Ten, Johnson could come in right away and push for playing time.
Johnson is good enough that he’d make the two-deep immediately.
Ricky White’s status is in flux and while it looks like he’ll be back, we don’t know what type of role he will have with the Spartans in 2021. Is Tucker looking at the portal for a receiver in order to take some snaps for the budding star? It’s possible, but the Spartans could also use a guy like Johnson to push the rest of the corps.
Johnson is a former five-star and was the No. 37 overall prospect in the 2020 class, according to the composite. He would be a home run of a transfer addition for Mel Tucker.
