Pierre Brooks, Max Christie, and Jaden Akins make up one of the best recruiting classes in the country and Michigan State is going to need all three to play big roles in 2021-22.

Brooks was just named Mr. Basketball in the state of Michigan, Akins played for a national title, and Christie is the lone five-star and was named an All-American.

It’s safe to say Izzo got three guys who could be around for a couple of years together and who should immediately improve the Spartans’ roster.

On Wednesday, each one moved into the top 60 in the final 247Sports rankings for 2021.

In the final 247Sports rankings, all three Michigan State signees in the 2021 moved into the top 60. This is the first time this happened as Brooks was in the 60-70 range for a while and Akins was No. 61 before his move to the No. 60 overall spot.

Brooks was Michigan State basketball’s biggest mover

After seeing Christie drop five spots to No. 18 overall, it was refreshing to see Brooks rise eight spots from 66th to No. 58. He jumps ahead of Akins who is now the third-highest rated prospect in the Spartans’ class at No. 60 overall, up one spot.

Christie is still the No. 1 shooting guard in the class and he could be a day one starter, especially since he’s added muscle this year. He’s also No. 18 in the composite.

Brooks was considered the most underrated of the group but after fans got to see him rise in the ranks during his senior season with Detroit Douglass, it was clear that he was a budding star. He is No. 59 in the composite.

And lastly, Akins is considered the point guard of the future and played with Emoni Bates before splitting and going to Sunrise Christian. He will play a big role in the backcourt this season. He’s No. 51 in the composite rankings.

Michigan State finishes with the No. 9 class in the country and second-best group in the Big Ten.
