1. Emoni Bates will likely be playing professionally

Probably the most obvious implication from this decommitment is the notion that Emoni Bates will probably be heading to the professional ranks.

Emoni stated that he wants to keep his college options open, but Michigan State was his first true love as a recruit and that’s why he decided to commit to Tom Izzo and the Spartans. He had been around the program for years and was familiar. It was like a family to him and even one of his best friends, Gabe Brown, is on the team.

It’s hard to see Emoni playing anywhere other than Michigan State.

Sure, it’s possible he could commit to another school, but college seems like a backup option at this point and that’s just fine. If he can get paid to play at the pro level in the G-League or overseas, more power to him.

The biggest takeaway from the decommitment is that Emoni is probably pro-bound sooner rather than later.
