2. Tom Izzo will hit the transfer portal again

Since Emoni isn’t going to take one of those open scholarships in the 2021 class, Tom Izzo has a decision to make with the remaining spots. Will he just pocket them for an aforementioned monster 2022 class or will he spend one or both on a transfer in the portal?

Izzo is likely going to add another player in the portal with the open scholarships because he can’t necessarily move forward with two vacant spots on the roster.

Michigan State has some needs heading into the season that a couple of walk-ons and two-sport stars probably can’t fill. Sure, it’ll be nice to have guys like Maliq Carr and Keon Coleman on the roster but will they have huge impacts in 2021-22? Probably not. And if they do, the Spartans might be in trouble due to a lack of depth.

With Emoni decommitting, there’s a good chance he hits the portal and takes a look at a guy like Bryce Thompson or someone else. Cam’Ron Fletcher is off the board to Florida State and Rocket Watts shot down some rumors so the pickens are slim.
