With over 60 offers in his back pocket, Kiyaunta Goodwin narrowed it down to five finalists before making a decision on CBS Sports Network over the weekend.

The curse of Kentucky winning over top Michigan State targets continued as Vince Morrow, Mark Stoops, and Co. landed Goodwin over the Spartans, Ohio State, Clemson, and Alabama. The Wildcats’ top-notch recruitment of the Midwest continued as the Indiana-native chose Kentucky and joined an impressive roster.

If Mark Dantonio was still in charge, it would have been no surprise to see Kentucky win over recruits that are considering both the Wildcats and MSU. With Mel Tucker, it feels different.

It actually feels like this one might not be over just yet.

Actually, Goodwin is planning on taking all of his official visits this season which means that the Spartans aren’t technically out of the running just yet despite his commitment to Kentucky.

Michigan State football gets one final shot

With Goodwin planning on taking his final visits before he signs, it gives Michigan State one final shot and Tucker finally gets to test out his in-person recruiting.

And it may actually change the game in this recruitment.

Michigan State, a program that hasn’t been nationally relevant in 5-6 years, made the cut for a top-100 recruit along with Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Kentucky despite the new staff not even meeting him in person. That just goes to show what kind of recruiting chops Tucker and his staff have. Just imagine how they’d roll out the red carpet for him on his official.

Tucker can recruit and it’s pretty obvious by the way he’s picking up commitments and transfers while not ever recruiting in-person at MSU.

This one final shot at Goodwin could be a game-changer.
