I distinctly remember Michigan State pushing hard for Bryce Thompson during his high school days but Tom Izzo and the Spartans fell behind Kansas after making his top seven list.

Thompson was one of the top combo guards in the entire 2020 recruiting class and he was expected to have a big impact on the Jayhawks immediately. He suffered a hand injury which kept him out a month and that may have messed with his confidence a bit as he finished his first season averaging just 4.6 points and 1.1 assists while shooting 35 percent from the floor.

Don’t let those stats fool you, this guard is a former five-star who was ranked No. 21 in the 2020 recruiting class and Michigan State really wanted him before he picked Kansas.

Michigan State needs a shooting guard to complement the incoming point guards and to play with Max Christie on the wing. This would be a perfect opportunity for Izzo to get back into the mix for Thompson and make a second run at him.

Not only does he have the ability to score from anywhere, but he has solid size for the position at 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds.
