1. Potential to have a Cassius Winston-like role

You would have to think that Tom Izzo has been selling a role to Tyson Walker and with the way the roster is looking for next season, he could be selling him on a Cassius Winston-like role.

If that’s the case, what kind of point guard says no?

Winston had the keys to the offense and had free reign to do just about anything in East Lansing and if Izzo is telling Walker he’ll be able to do the same, it would be the perfect set-up for both sides. Having a limited role in East Lansing is not something Walker is looking for.

Michigan State’s offense needs a leader and someone to run the point and Walker would be that immediately. The Spartans didn’t have a true point last season and it led to its worst year under Izzo since he took over in 1995. With him leading the way as the do-it-all point guard who facilitates, looks for his own shot, gets to the free throw line and defends on the other end, Michigan State would fill a massive hole.

Izzo needs another guy who he can trust to run the offense and defend at a high level (better than Cassius did on defense) for the Spartans to have success.

What kind of point guard wouldn’t want a Cassius role?
