1. The Spartans have proven they can beat anyone

A few weeks ago, it seemed like every legit team that Michigan State matched up with ended up handling the Spartans with ease. Purdue had just beaten Michigan State for the second time on the season and they were coming off a 30-point loss to Iowa; all hope for the postseason was lost.

In fact, a couple weeks before that, the Spartans were riding a four-game losing streak which included a 30-point loss to Rutgers, a 17-point defeat at Ohio State and a six-point loss at Iowa. They just couldn’t seem to hang with or beat anyone with a pulse.

And then the second half of the Indiana road game happened and hope was restored.

Michigan State was down a healthy amount and then stormed back to take the lead and never looked back. The Spartans won that game by seven, beat No. 5 Illinois by nine and No. 4 Ohio State by four. They took a step back at Illinois which was the team’s fifth game in 10 days and then went back out to beat Indiana for a second time by six.

The Spartans lost to Michigan by 19 and then got some revenge, beating the No. 2 Wolverines by six in East Lansing.

In the span of two weeks, Michigan State beat the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 teams in the country, proving that it can hang with and take down just about anyone. If they can beat those teams in a span of a couple of weeks, I don’t see why they can’t take down a couple of them to win the Big Ten Tournament.

Michigan State is red-hot and the Big Ten is on notice.
