1. The Spartans will win all of their home games

Have I learned my lesson yet? I’ve been way too bullish on this team because of its potential given the pieces that it has and I’ve been caught making some optimistic predictions even when I know I shouldn’t, but at some point — even if there’s no tourney for MSU this year — something has to click with the Spartans.

There’s just no way a Tom Izzo-coached team will go an entire season without putting up a fight — that’s just not Michigan State’s nature, and it hasn’t been for 20-plus years.

February isn’t going to be too kind on this team with a number of ranked opponents on the schedule and Michigan State won’t get any breaks. But I do believe that this team will figure out a way to ruin some Big Ten title hopes with a couple of upsets, winning each of its home games, going 4-0 at the Breslin Center.

How? It won’t be an easy task with Iowa and Ohio State coming to East Lansing, but with a couple of momentum-building games against Nebraska and Penn State before that, winning those isn’t out of the question like many believe.

Michigan State may go 4-0 at home, but there’s also a chance this team goes 0-4 on the road in February at Iowa, Purdue, Indiana and Maryland.
