Michigan State Football: 3-star WR Tyrell Henry an important get in 2022 class
Michigan State football bolstered its 2022 recruiting class with the commitment of three-star wide receiver Tyrell Henry on Friday night.
All the focus is on the 2021 recruiting class as Mel Tucker is getting set to sew up his first official recruiting class as head coach of Michigan State next Wednesday.
But that hasn’t stopped him and his staff from looking ahead to 2022.
Tucker picked up his third commitment in the 2022 class on Friday night as three-star wide receiver Tyrell Henry, a top priority for the Spartans, picked the green and white over the likes of Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse and West Virginia.

Henry had been trending toward the Spartans for a while, but Courtney Hawkins was able to persuade him to commit before his senior year and that’s a huge recruiting victory as he had a handful of impressive offers and he’s one of the best prospects in the state of Michigan.
Michigan State also needed that first domino to drop in the 2022 class in the state and Henry is going to be an important recruiting tool for Tucker and his staff. He’ll help the Spartans reel in more big fish and hopefully win some battles over the likes of Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State to keep the top talent home — and in East Lansing.
The 6-foot-0, 160-pound athlete from Roseville, Mich., is ranked the No. 560 overall prospect and 18th-best Michigan recruit in the 2022 class, according to 247Sports. He’s likely to be a receiver at the next level and could be a solid slot-type.
Michigan State’s class is up to No. 29 in the country in 2022 and it’s just getting started.
