Mel Tucker has Michigan State football in the running for former Michigan commit and four-star safety Myles Rowser from Belleville.

A little over a year ago, Myles Rowser decided to commit to Michigan and it looked like the Wolverines would be kicking off their 2022 class with one of the best prospects from the state.

It was a huge win for Jim Harbaugh and Co., but as soon as more schools began showing him more interest, he decided to reopen his commitment. He was committed for about three months before de-committing and vowing to keep an eye on the Wolverines and give them a fair shot no matter what.

Fast forward to January 2021 and Rowser is narrowing down his top schools list and included Michigan like many expected, but Mel Tucker and Michigan State have entered the running.

Rowser’s top eight is pretty loaded with Penn State, Alabama, Michigan, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Florida and Georgia Tech also making the trimmed list. Teams like Alabama and Michigan will be tough to beat out, but the Spartans have been gaining ground on a lot of in-state targets under Tucker after Mark Dantonio kind of bowed out of certain recruitments.

This will be interesting to follow because Rowser is a Belleville-native and Michigan State just lost Julian Barnett, Davion Williams and Devontae Dobbs (all Belleville kids) to transfers this offseason.

Michigan State will be a team to watch here, though, as the in-state draw is big and the fact that he included the Spartans after once being committed to Michigan shows that he’s serious about the green and white.

Rowser is ranked the No. 124 overall prospect, 10th-best safety and third-best prospect in the state of Michigan for 2022, according to 247Sports. He holds over two dozen offers.
