Wizards. PG. Pick Analysis. PG. Cassius Winston. player. 142. Scouting Report

Why is Cassius Winston starting at point guard even though he has played just two NBA minutes? Well, because he’s the only Spartan point guard in the NBA.

If the Spartans started an NBA team, Winston would likely be looked at to start at point guard but there’s also a chance Denzel Valentine could move to that spot despite playing mostly small forward in the league.

Winston made his NBA debut this week, playing in two minutes at the end of a win over Phoenix and he had one assist and one foul. He’s capable of scoring from beyond the arc and he’s crafty enough to make it to the basket and either find an open teammate or finish at the rack. We have yet to see that in the NBA, but that’s the potential he possesses.

It would take a little while for Winston to adjust to NBA speed and defenders, but he’d likely get the nod for the starting point guard position, especially after an epic MSU career.
