1. There will be staff changes

This, admittedly, is definitely a hot take. When Mel Tucker accepted the Michigan State job last February he was rushed to put together a staff. Tucker brought multiple coaches from his Colorado staff, he kept a couple Michigan State coaches and there was some coaches who were poached from other schools.

Given he was rushed to put together a unit, he might want to make an upgrade to one of his position coaches or even a coordinator. This is somewhat unlikely since its tough to get fired after one year, but you never know.

Also, some coaches might take job upgrades. For example, Marcus Freeman left Cincinnati to become the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame. Mike Tressel is a former Cincinnati defensive coordinator and has some ties to head coach Luke Fickell. He currently coaches the safeties at Michigan State, he might want become a coordinator again.

Harlon Barnett, one of the best cornerback coaches in America, might get some new coordinator job offers. Although, last time he left it didn’t work out too well so it would probably have to be a very safe, lucrative offer to get him to leave.

Promotions at a new school is the most logical explanation for a coach leaving at this point. But there is always an opportunity for anyone to get fired. Tucker is an SEC guy and that is the most cutthroat brand of football.

I wouldn’t be shocked if someone was packing their bags right now. Tucker has a lot of work ahead of him and he needs to have the best supporting group possible.
