Mel Tucker ended his first season as Michigan State football’s head coach 2-5. What are some predictions for the Spartans this offseason?

Michigan State finished a very odd year on Dec. 12 with a loss against Penn State. Following that, Mel Tucker and Co. decided to opt out of a bowl game and begin preparation for what we hope will be a normal 2021 football season.

During the course of the 2020 season, we found out some new things about the Spartans.

Elijah Collins just isn’t the same tailback he was a year ago. The rumors about Payton Thorne are true, he is a talented quarterback with plenty of potential. Shakur Brown emerged as one of the nation’s top defensive backs. Lastly, that true freshmen Ricky White, Jordon Simmons and Angelo Grose all have a bright future ahead of them.

When Tucker got to East Lansing he made it clear that a staple of his program would be recruiting. During his short tenure, he flipped a four-star linebacker from USC and beat out in-state rival Michigan for a four-star Oak Park defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny.

During this football hiatus until next fall, it’s expected that Tucker will continue to recruit his tail off and build relationships with incoming prospects.

Along with recruiting, what else is Tucker going to get done this offseason? Let’s take a look.
