Houston Griffith was one of Michigan State’s top targets back in the 2018 recruiting class, but he decided to pick Notre Dame which turned out to be a wise decision based on how vastly different the Irish’s and Spartans’ 2018 and 2019 seasons turned out.

And while Griffith has yet to give official word on his transfer from Notre Dame, it has been reported by just about every major college football insider.

If he does end up transferring, it would be wise for Mel Tucker to take a stab as he would add some much-needed depth to the secondary. Griffith can play cornerback or safety or he could be that hybrid-type player who would fit in well with Michigan State’s new defensive scheme.

Griffith has played in 17 games over three seasons with the Irish, recording 33 total tackles and three pass deflections.

With all the attrition MSU has faced in the secondary this offseason, he’d find a home in the rotation for the Spartans. And let’s not forget, this kid was the No. 70 prospect in the 2018 class who was actually recruited by Tucker (his primary recruiter) at Georgia.
