Michigan State Basketball: Score predictions for must-win vs. Nebraska
Michigan State basketball is riding a three-game losing streak with a matchup against Nebraska approaching. Will the Spartans stop the bleeding?
Every year, Michigan State goes through dry-spells. Last season, it lasted about a month as the Spartans went from No. 1 in the country to completely unranked. And then by the end of the year, they got red-hot again and everyone realized they have to trust Tom Izzo.
This losing streak seems a little different as the Spartans have barely been competitive, losing by 25 to Minnesota in their most recent debacle. Before that, they had a nine-point second half lead over Wisconsin before completely melting down and they lost by 14 to Northwestern the game before.
It’s time for a turnaround to restore the hope for 2020-21.
Will the Spartans finally stop the bleeding?
Connor Muldowney: This team is just too talented to be playing as poorly as they are right now and the fact that there’s no alpha dog just means that one is going to have to step up. I think we’ll see Aaron Henry adjust into that role, starting on Saturday night. He’s going to come as close to a triple-double as he has all season and he’ll finally lead the Spartans back on the right track. We’ll also see a lot more of AJ Hoggard who’ll have himself quite the game with over five assists and 10 points. And Rocket Watts will excel back at the two-guard spot.
Final Score: Michigan State 78, Nebraska 70
Carter Landis: They just cannot lose this one, right? Nebraska isn’t good at anything on the court. This is the perfect game for MSU to bounce back. They’ll make their shots and force turnovers. I expect a big Aaron Henry game, he’ll flirt with a triple-double.
Final Score: Michigan State 67, Nebraska 54
Jack Williams: MSU can’t possibly keep losing, especially against a team like Nebraska. The Spartans will get the win, but won’t inspire much hope in the process. It’ll be a tight game before good shooting pulls Tom Izzo’s team away.
Final Score: Michigan State 72, Nebraska 56
Conner Linsner: With the Spartans now on a three game skid, changes are gonna be made. A.J. Hoggard might see more time running the offense, the lineups on the wings and the front court will most likely be shook up. With all the recent struggles and new lineups MSU will get off to a slow start, but eventually pull away with their first conference win.
Final Score: Michigan State 85, Nebraska 75
Stephen Robb: MSU plays Nebraska and this could be their get right game. Rocket Watts needs to be the shooting guard and I’m in favor of freshman AJ Hoggard playing the point. This would mean Josh Langford comes off the bench or they go small ball. The Spartans could not have had a worse half than against Minnesota. MSU plays better gets a win.
Final Score: Michigan State 76, Nebraska 66
