When Ma’a Gaoteote’s brother, a former five-star linebacker, decided to enter the transfer portal last week, leaving USC, Michigan State’s chances with the four-star from the 2021 class improved tremendously.

Although he’s currently committed to USC and has been since 2018, Gaoteote has been in close contact with Michigan State and he’s arguably the top target for the Spartans who is not in their 2021 class currently. There could be some early signing period magic being worked right now by the staff and reeling him away from USC would be massive.

Gaoteote has been in close contact with Tucker since his days at Colorado and that translated over to Michigan State where it looks like momentum is being gained.

Will he shock everyone and sign with MSU in the early period or will he hold off on a decision until National Signing Day in February?

Either way, Michigan State needs linebacker depth, especially if it’s in the form of the No. 155 prospect and 11th-best outside backer in the 2021 class.
