Davon Townley is a name that Spartan fans may not be that familiar with because he’s likely leaning elsewhere, but the four-star defensive end from Minneapolis is an exceptional talent.

Michigan State is going to need some depth on the defensive line because it’s taken a big hit over the past year and with Jacub Panasiuk and Naquan Jones potentially leaving, the Spartans are going to have plenty of spots to fill. Townley would be a good fit.

Townley meets the size requirements for Mel Tucker, standing a mammoth 6-foot-6 and weighing in at 220 pounds. He has a frame he can grow into and he’s athletic.

Ranked the No. 325 prospect in the country and as a four-star according to the composite, Townley has been highly sought-after by some solid programs such as Penn State, Minnesota and Arizona State which is believed to make up his top four, along with MSU.

I believe Townley ends up signing with Minnesota in the end and staying home, but don’t count the Spartans out until it’s official.
