Michigan State football: Top 3 priorities for 2021 Early Signing Period
The Early Signing Period is approaching for the 2021 class and Michigan State football is hoping to make a splash with a few big names.
The first full recruiting class for Mel Tucker at Michigan State is coming together nicely as it’s being ranked anywhere from No. 27 (Rivals) to No. 41 (247Sports Composite). It’s better than what people expected for his first season in the middle of a pandemic with no in-person recruiting going on and it should have fans excited for what’s to come.
A few years ago, the NCAA made the Early Signing Period more of a priority, lessening the craziness of National Signing Day every February. There will still be some surprises, but it’s not as whacky as it once was.
This early signing period also helps coaches get a good idea of what their class will look like in terms of numbers and targets. The long wait until February is cancelled out for most of the kids already committed as a majority sign instead of waiting and keeping the staff on pins and needles.
Michigan State currently has 18 kids committed to its 2021 class and there are sure to be at least a few more before it’s all said and done, especially with attrition to the current roster.
Transfers will open up some spots as this roster will likely see major changes this offseason and it’s already started with guys like Anthony Williams Jr., Luke Fulton, Charles Willekes and Julian Barnett entering the portal while Shakur Brown declared for the NFL draft early.
Which guys are the biggest priorities to sign in the early period starting on Dec. 16 this week?
