Michigan State Basketball: 3 takeaways from pull-away win over WMU
2. Joey Hauser is officially here
It’s officially Joey Hauser season. The junior forward posted a career-high 24 points and looked like the player everyone expected before the season began.
When Michigan State needed buckets in the second half to start pulling away, it got them from Hauser as he was on fire from 3-point range, hitting 6-of-10 deep shots including one from the half-court logo as a heat-check that extended the lead.
Hauser was the leading scorer and if he continues to play like this, he’s going to make Michigan State exponentially better. He’s playing well right now and that’s good news for the Spartans.
Tom Izzo needs Hauser to be that leader and a go-to scorer on the court and he made buckets in a variety of ways on Sunday night. Western Michigan had no answers for him.
Oh, and he recorded a double-double with his 10 rebounds and he added four assists, two steals and a block. What a game.
