Oakland is fresh off its best game of the season, taking Michigan to overtime, but the Grizzlies will come back down to earth for this one.

Usually, Oakland and Greg Kampe play the Spartans tough but I just don’t think this team has enough firepower to keep with them, especially with that Michigan State defense rounding into form. Michigan State will have six players in double figures as this one gets out of hand and Steven Izzo gets some more playing time against the Grizzlies for the second year in a row.

Final Score: Oakland 58, Michigan State 80 (6-1)

The first Big Ten game of the season will be against a Northwestern team that we really know nothing about heading into December. The Wildcats haven’t played a single game yet and they’re coming off a poor season but guys like Miller Kopp and Boo Buie could lead an upset special over the Spartans.

Don’t count on it, though.

Michigan State gets the job done in front of an empty arena but it’ll be closer than people expect.

Final Score: Michigan State 77, Northwestern 69 (7-1, 1-0 Big Ten)
