Michigan State Basketball: 3 takeaways from impressive win over Notre Dame
2. Aaron Henry has taken that next step
Aaron Henry only scored four points in the first game and attempted just three field goals, but he looked better. It’s hard to explain, but he looked like a better overall player despite the low point total.
And then he doubled down on that improvement with a 14-point game against Notre Dame, shooting 4-for-11 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the free throw line. He also had eight rebounds, four blocks, a steal and three assists with just two turnovers. He was in foul trouble but some of the calls were slightly questionable. Can’t fault him for that.
Notre Dame had a nightmare of a time trying to score whenever Henry was on the floor. He was suffocating his man all game and gave up very little on the defensive end.
Henry looks like a top-tier player this season and he has taken that next step to improve his all-around game. He is one of the best players in the conference and it’s hard to deny that.
