Michigan State Basketball: Game-by-game predictions for 2020-21 season
Here we are in the home stretch and Michigan State has the unfortunate task of heading to West Lafayette and Mackey Arena. Fingers crossed there are still no fans allowed at games (kidding — sort of) as Michigan State never plays well here. That trend will continue as some other random Boilermaker drops 20 points in an aggravating loss.
Final Score: Michigan State 66, Purdue 78 (16-7, 11-5)
Another arena Michigan State struggles in. But this time, Michigan State will get some revenge on Indiana for the past couple of years worth of disappointments. Michigan State’s defense will show up in this one and it’ll hold Indiana to just 60 points.
Final Score: Michigan State 65, Indiana 60 (17-7, 12-5)
Michigan State will begin to roll at this point in the year and Ohio State will get knocked from the Top 25 by Michigan State thanks to a Spartan win about a month earlier. The Buckeyes will climb back in but the Spartans may knock them out again in a nice 13-point victory. Michigan State is building that tourney resume.
Final Score: Ohio State 59, Michigan State 72 (18-7, 13-5)
Maryland isn’t going to be that good this season and we can blame the poor recruiting from Mark Turgeon in the 2020 class and the losses of Jalen Smith and Anthony Cowan. Michigan State won the last matchup in College Park and it will close out February with another big road win against the Terps.
Final Score: Michigan State 78, Maryland 70 (19-7, 14-5)
The last game of the season couldn’t come against a better foe. Michigan State and Michigan meet in East Lansing to kick off the month of March and potentially battle for a Big Ten title. Michigan State lost the first matchup in Ann Arbor by a point but it’ll get some revenge here, knocking off the Wolverines and capturing their 20th win of the season. Will a 15-5 record be enough to win the Big Ten? It would have been a year ago.
Final Score: Michigan 63, Michigan State 70 (20-7, 15-5)
