The wait is over for Joey Hauser. After sitting out the 2019-20 season, per NCAA rules, the Marquette transfer will be a staple of Michigan State’s post in 2020-21.

While Tom Izzo stated that Josh Langford and Aaron Henry will be in that starting lineup for sure, he also mentioned Hauser as a sure starter. Those are the three guarantees heading into the season while the point guard spot and center are allegedly still up for grabs. Sure, a lot can still happen, but I don’t see a scenario in which Hauser isn’t the top option at power forward.

Hauser will have plenty of talent behind him in Julius Marble and Malik Hall, but this is a kid who could be playing in the NBA next season.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound Wisconsin-native passed up Michigan State for Marquette with his brother back in 2018 as Izzo was shocked that he missed out on the top-50 prospect after recruiting him so heavily. He averaged 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists as a freshman, shooting 45 percent from the floor and 43 percent from deep.

This kid is going to stretch the floor and be one of the better passing bigs in the Big Ten this season. He’s going to be a fan favorite.
