Michigan State Basketball: 5 things we’d like to see during 2020-21 season
2. Aaron Henry reaching ‘elite’ status on both ends of the court
When he decided to return for his junior season after flirting with the idea of entering the NBA draft, Aaron Henry knew that the magnifying glass would be placed upon him all season long.
Henry is an enigma. He can be an incredible presence on both ends of the floor one game and then the next he disappears on offense while playing solid defense. It has rarely been consistent.
That must change.
If Michigan State wants a chance at making a run to a Final Four this season, Henry must become elite on both ends of the floor, not just on defense. We know what he can do defensively and that’s a huge factor in his success, but he needs to develop a consistent jumper, protect the ball and he cannot be afraid to take the ball to the hoop.
Oh, and he needs to stay out of Tom Izzo’s doghouse.
Henry is capable of doing all four of those things and becoming an elite player on both ends of the floor. Being voted captain is a tremendous start.
