4. A more developed Marcus Bingham Jr.

There’s a bandwagon I’m not afraid to admit that I’ve been on for years with very little return on investment so far. But I’m going out on a limb here and telling you: buy Marcus Bingham Jr. stock now.

All Michigan State fans want to see a competent replacement for Xavier Tillman but everyone knows that’s not going to be simple. Someone like Joey Hauser could step up in the post or Mady Sissoko and Malik Hall, but Marcus Bingham Jr. needs to take that next step and live up to his potential as a big man in East Lansing.

For two years, he’s been an undersized big who looked about 500 cheeseburgers shy of being a presence down low. Heading into this season, it looks like he’s added some muscle.

While he’s not massive, by any means, he’s growing into his frame a little better. He looks like a much more muscular player which could help him see the floor more.

We’ve seen him hold his own on the defensive side before (just ask Kofi Cockburn) but he needs to have a presence on the offensive end of the floor as well. He needs to be able to back down defenders, develop a short-range game and go up strong at the basket. He needs to be that Tillman-type player.

If this happens, Michigan State will have hit the lottery.
