Michigan State basketball hits the court in just a few weeks and that means the Spartans will be defending their Big Ten crown for a third straight year.

Already three weeks into the 2020 football season, Michigan State fans are ready for basketball to start. Sure, the Spartans beat Michigan, but it’s clear that Mel Tucker’s squad is undergoing a massive rebuild as evidenced by losses to Rutgers and Iowa.

Tom Izzo did just test positive for COVID-19 which puts a damper on basketball-related content, but he’s experiencing minor symptoms and if all goes as planned, he’ll be back by the opener.

The official schedule has yet to be released for Michigan State or the Big Ten yet, but we do know the Spartans have three non-conference games against some ACC foes in Notre Dame, Virginia and Duke. Those are three monster battles that will tell us a lot about Michigan State before conference play even begins.

Michigan State is one of seven teams ranked in the preseason AP Top 25 which was released on Monday, behind Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois at No. 13. The Spartans will be looking to defend their Big Ten crown for a third straight season and will have their hands full.

What would we like to see from this team in 2020-21 that would likely lead to another successful season?
