2. Michigan State finally has 1,000-yard rusher

What’s going on with Elijah Collins? That’s the question on everyone’s mind this season as the Big Ten’s lead returning rusher has just a handful of rushing yards on less than 10 carries.

But will he get an uptick in production any time soon? It’s possible that he had a good week of practice and is ready to prove himself as that RB1 in Week 10. It’s also possible that Jordon Simmons is approaching that job. I’m going to say Connor Heyward is the team’s best receiving running back and that should be his primary purpose as he’s averaging about two yards per carry.

I’m going out on a limb here and I’m going to say Michigan State has its first 100-yard rusher of the season against Iowa which usually has a stingy run defense.

Mel Tucker said before the season that he wants his team to be able to run the ball effectively and often. We haven’t quite seen that yet. That will happen on Saturday as the offensive line continues to gel and improve.

Whether it’s Heyward, Collins or Simmons, the Spartans will have a 100-yard rusher for the first time this season.
